Ommo is a qualified IT Practitioner, Technology Entrepreneur and SEO Expert with vast experience in software development that covers Program Management, Business Analysis, System Design, Application Testing, Application Support, Change Management, Release Management and Vendor Management. Ommo founded iBez Consulting Ltd in Sittingbourne, England in July 2008 to provide software development and training services but relocated back to Nigeria 6 months afterwards. The initial idea behind iBez Nigeria which began full time operations in Lagos, Nigeria in January 2013 was to show that international standard software applications can be built out of Nigeria by Nigerians and close the software development skills gap. Ommo came up with the ideas of Handy-Jacks and Lets-Share to solve issues she was facing in Nigeria just doing everyday life and designed the online applications by herself.
Prior to starting up iBez, she worked with an International Trade firm in Lagos as Chief Operating Officer, Soft Solutions Ltd (Enterpriseware), Lagos as Head of Projects Delivery & Support, Icelandic Investment Bank, Kaupthing, Singer & Friedlander, London, UK as Project Manager leading the software development team in developing banking applications, the Investment Bank Lehman Brothers UK as a Team Leader in the Mortgage Capital Division tasked with leading the web and support teams responsible for managing the online mortgage origination system, The E-Trading Platform, online products development and application support services, and Real Asset Management UK (a software house) as Application Support Consultant.
An Urhobo/Ijaw native from Delta State, Ommo attended Delta Steel Company (DSC) Technical High School, Ovwian-Aladja, Delta State before proceeding to the UK for further education. Ommo is an Alumna of Brunel University UK with MSc Information Systems and London Guildhall University UK with BA (Hons) Business Admin. She also has a Diploma in IT from Southwark College, London and Foundation in Business Studies Certificate from University of Luton. Ommo is a Global Women Entrepreneurs Initiative - GWEI2015 Fellow of The Ivan Allen College, Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA; a member of the Institute of Software Practitioners of Nigeria (ISPON), a member of the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA), a Mara Mentor and is ISO9001 qualified.
She was honoured with a merit Award for ICT/Technology by the Izon Ladies Association in January 2020, nominated for the 2019 ELOY Award for ICT/Technology that recognises women that have created a platform offering knowledge, service, product or solution to build sustainable businesses, by the Institute of Attitudinal Change Managers for its Role Model Award known as Honorary Fellow in August 2019, listed by Lionesses of Africa in 2018 as one of 21 female Technology / Digital gamechangers on the African Continent, by Naij.com in 2017 as one of 21 most inspiring women entrepreneurs in Nigeria, by the Lionesses of Africa in 2016 as one of 41 Nigerian Female Entrepreneurs putting Nigeria on the global map and by Ynaija as the 48th most innovative person in Technology in Nigeria – Class of 2015. Ommo is passionate about using software technologies to contribute to the socio-economic development of Nigeria. Ommo is frequently called upon to speak and participate in conferences and events.
